Keren (Between highlands and lowlands). A market town set among mountains between the highlands and the western lowlands, known for its weekly livestock market and the shrine of St Mariam Dearit, built into a baobab tree.
Red Sea coast (Coast & beaches). Eritrea has more than 1,000 km of Red Sea coastline, with beaches, coral reefs and quiet bays. Massawa is the main base for exploring it.
Dahlak Archipelago (Islands & reefs). More than 200 islands off Massawa, known for coral reefs, marine life and diving. Boat trips leave from Massawa.
